Objectives and Scope

The GMSIH is not authorized to formulate and develop standards. It is not a standardization body or an industrial consortium. However, in its position as a group encouraging the cooperation of health care institutions and health networks, the GMSIH’s role is to promote the implementation and use of standards to health organizations. In effect, standardization of the market offer is an essential condition for the opening and interoperability of institutions’ systems required to create the health information system.

To this end, the GMSIH cooperates with the majority of organizations involved in this area at a national and international level, whether standardization bodies, industrial groups or partner user associations.

As part of this philosophy of action, the GMSIH plays an active role in the IHE (Integrating the Health care Enterprise) approach, within which it brings together, in particular, the points of view of users in health care institutions and networks.

Below is a list of the websites of institutions, professional organizations and associations involved in drawing up standards for the exchange of computerized data in health networks.
